MEDICARE ADVANTAGE - Common Questions

If your doctor is accepting Original Medicare, they are required to accept your Medicare Supplement plan as well.

A medicare supplement plan is not required, but it may provide a financial benefit to cover the costs that Original Medicare won't.

In the state of Washington, the portability act allows you to switch from one Medigap Plan to another, during the calendar year without underwriting.

Medigap plans may be different costs, while providing the exact same coverage. Talk with us to find out why this is the case.

Does each drug plan cover the same prescription drugs?

No they don't. Double check the drug plan's formulary to make sure your drugs are covered and how much they will cost you.

What happens if my drug is no longer going to be covered?

A Medicare drug plan can make some changes to its formulary during the year within guidelines set by Medicare. If the change involves a drug you’re currently taking, your plan must do one of these:

  • Provide written notice to you at least 60 days prior to the date the change becomes effective.

  • At the time you request a refill, provide written notice of the change and a 60-day supply of the drug under the same plan rules as before the change.

Don't forget: The annual election period is October 15th - December 7th each year.

Also Don't Forget: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is from

January 1 - through March 31.

You can switch one time to a new Medicare Advantage Plan during OEP, or dis-enroll from Medicare Advantage and sign up with a Prescription Drug plan, returning back to Original Medicare.
